Happy Snowy St. Patrick's Day

A day or two ago it was nearly 70 degrees but today we woke up to this. We measure a good 8 inches. The first few times i think my husband had fun with the snow blower, but the bloom is off the rose now. Enough already!

It's currently a balmy 27 degrees, so we will hole up once again in the glass studio. Working over a nice warm torch flame in front of a hot kiln. Sounds cozy & lovely.

On the docket - silver glass, more flowers, some animals and stringer work, glass cabochons for bezeling in silver. Once we get going it's hard to stop.

We need to place a glass order today too. If any of you dabble in glass out there, try Frantz Art Glass & Supply in Washington State. Great selection, lots of specials, delivered to your door.
Have a great day folks!

Dreaming of flowers & cherry blossoms

We are all good sick and tired of this polar vortex, endless winter. Every view out the window for months has been the dormant brown landscape and various stages of snow. Presently, the thought of making a brown or earth tone glass creation is more than I can bear. Seems like the only thing I am interested in this month is flowers. I'm obsessed with flowers and cherry blossoms at the moment. If I can't get them in life for a while longer, by golly I'll create them in the studio. Beach-themed beads have been another therapeutic endeavor. I'm counting the weeks until summer. Flip flops, barbecue, flowers. Heck, I'll even battle the humidity and the mosquitos with a little less complaining this year.

Remembering Cleo

We lost our sweet little kitty, Cleo, yesterday. There is a huge hole in our hearts this weekend. We miss this little guy so much. He was handsome, social, chatty, curious and loved to spoon. He often preferred my husband, which I suspect was due to the open lap policy.
We still have another kitty, Coco, to lavish with love and affection. Coco is more of a clingy cat anyway, so I'm not sure if she is missing him yet or notices he is gone. I guess we will see.
Meanwhile, I'm going to spend the weekend flameworking. It's an activity that requires full concentration and hopefully will help in the healing process. Rest in peace, little buddy.
