Weather forecasters predicted snow last night, but I still couldn't believe my eyes when I looked out the window this morning. It's spring break for most kids, Passover starts tonight and Easter is this weekend. This snow is so whacky I just had to post a picture. I had also just planted pansies in some of those pots! They should do okay though. I feel badly however for the throngs of tourists that come to DC up the road for the cherry blossom festivities. Not that great to be outside right now... I'm going to be good and ready for summer this year - bugs, humidity and all that goes with it. But for now we are huddled inside, getting things done but antsy to get outside. Hope it's nice wherever you are!

We just fused some of that dichroic class I talked about in my last post. Gorgeous! We cut a bar of just about every new variety to see how it would turn out. I have a customer waiting for a pair of icy blue earrings. I think (I hope) some of these will fit the bill. Next step is to trim, cut pieces, and cold work them before they go into the kiln for a final fire polish. Then we epoxy on a bail and make them into shiny, pretty earrings and pendants - but mostly earrings. I am down to only 3 pair in my inventory so it's time to reload. These colors look cool and delicious for summer. I'll have to nab a pair for my stash too! Have a great weekend everybody. I love piles of pretty, shiny gemstones as much as the next person - but oh my goodness, take a look at this fabulous dichroic fusing glass! Bill and I went on a bit of a shopping spree at the local stained glass place this weekend...This gorgeous glass (invented by rocket scientists for use on satellites) will be fused in the kiln for necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. It's always a mystery how it will look when it comes out of the kiln. What looks blue and green now may come out yellow or purple. - or both, depending on the direction you view it from. But whatever the end result, it's always gorgeous. I am imagining lots of pretty little baubles to wear to the beach in just a few months. Yes, I'm counting down the days till summer. Be gone winter! |
